5 Fast Food Choices in Cebu

Choosing what to eat when you're in the mall is easier when you go to the food court. Food choices are abundant and varied. There are other things you consider when looking for food after a day of shopping ---- food has to be served fast, fresh and hot! Affordability is also a factor.

Here are 5 fast food choices that I had on a Saturday afternoon. They might be simple but you can't put good food down.

1. Pepperoni Pizza and Churros from S&R. Before you can only enjoy these goodies at the S&R store located in Mandaue City but now they opened a restaurant store located in Ayala Center Cebu.

2. Takoyaki is a Japanese ball-shaped snack that can be stuffed with variants of seafood or veggies with pickled ginger and green onion. It has takoyaki sauce (texture and taste are similar to Worcestershire sauce) and mayo. Then top it off with dried bonito shavings and green seaweed. It's cooked on a special takoyaki grill.  It's better to eat these while piping hot. It's part of the experience.

It's typically sold in kiosks that are found in mall food courts.

This is a favorite snack of mine. It's affordable and hot. I've tried variations of these in Singapore and Seoul.

3. Batchoy is a noodle soup with pork, pork cracklings, topped with hard-boiled egg, beef loin, and chicken stock. It's a flavorful noodle soup concoction. I bought mine in Goto King which is found in the SM City food court.

4. Another favorite of mine is known by a lot of names --- rice porridge, lugaw, congee, arroz caldo or goto --- depending on where you are in the Philippines. There are also different styles in preparing this savory dish, You can use fish, chicken, beef tripe or any other meat flavorings that you want. It's always topped with hard-boiled egg, pork cracklings, and fried garlic.

5. This brand of freshly-baked pretzels has been a favorite of mine since they opened their first store in the 1990's. It's a special treat to have these soft and delicious snack. Auntie Anne's make them so good. I always order the almond or glazin' raisin flavors. But on that Saturday afternoon, I had to satisfy my pretzel craving with their cinnamon-flavored one.
