4 Harry Potter actors who crossovered to Game of Thrones

With the recent announcement of British actor Jim Broadbent being cast in Season 7 of Game of Thrones, he joins a growing number of actors who transitioned from the Harry Potter movie franchise to the GOT series. We still don’t know which character he will be playing but what they say is that it would be a significant role.

He is the fourth recognizable Harry Potter actor who would grace the fantasy world of George RR Martin.

It was enjoyable seeing familiar faces in the HBO production. And these actors truly brought to life their literary counterparts.

Natalia Tena who played Animagus, Nymphadora Tonks, started playing Osha the Wildling in Season 2. Tonks was a young magician who was the niece of Sirius Black. She fell in love and married Remus Lupin. They had a son, Teddy. Both Remus and Tonks died during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Osha
In the Game of Thrones TV series, She initially took care of Bran and eventually Rickon when they escaped Winterfell. She became loyal to the Winterfell youngsters and protected them for years. In Season 6, they were betrayed and brought to Ramsey Bolton as leverage. Beloved Osha was killed by Ramsey when she tried to murder him.

Irish actor, Ciaran Hinds, played the role of Aberforth Dumbledore in parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He only had a few scenes in the movies. The role wasn’t meaty enough for the talented actor.

Mance Rayder
The opposite can be said about his role in GOT. He was Mance Rayder, the leader of the Wildling community. The role was a good avenue for him to showcase his acting chops.
As Mance, he wanted to conquer Castle Black in order to protect the Wildlings from the Wight Walkers. After their defeat, he was burned at the stake. Jon Snow took pity on him and shot an arrow through his heart.

And finally,  we come to an actor who can bring so much animosity to the characters that he portrays. British actor, David Bradley, who has won an Olivier theater award, was Argus Filch in all of the Harry Potter films. He was the Hogwarts caretaker who laughed with glee when students are given detention and punishments.

Walder Frey
And so when I watched him play Walder Frey in Season 2, I knew something bad would happen to the Starks. He was villainous and a traitor. That kind of ill-feeling towards a particular character meant that the actor has played his part well. He also met his doom at the hand of Arya Stark in Season 6.

Who would be the next actor from the Harry Potter movie franchise to cross over to the Game of Thrones series? There are only 2 seasons left and about 14 episodes to think about.

Who would you want to guest-star next?
