How to Choose Your Luggage at the Travel Gear Sale of Metro Department Store

In recent times, the definition of travel has changed. Before it was a means of getting from point A to point B but now it has become an aspirational aspect. Filipinos are traveling more for leisure and recreation.

People in the 2010s are becoming jet-setters. They're adventurers making their own experiences and memories.

Planning for a trip equates to choosing the right equipment to bring along. And one of the things that you have to consider is what kind of bag you should have to put your stuff in.

Creating a checklist is an integral part of preparing for your trip. You cannot properly go on your way without dealing with all of these pre-travel necessities.

There are several factors to keep in mind when selecting the right kind of bag for you: What kind of activities are involved? How are you traveling? Where are you going? How many pieces of clothing and other belongings are you bringing? How long is your trip? Is it a business or personal trip?

Your travel style is also important since it will lead to your own comfortability and convenience.

They say that nothing lasts forever but if you choose the correct quality bag and it's well taken care of, it will last you a long time.

I own a very dependable suitcase that has been with me for nine years. It has traveled thousands of miles and taken quite a beating every time I checked it in at the airport. But it has remained a steadfast travel companion.

It is extremely valuable to come well-prepared rather than ill-equipped especially if you are going to places that are not accessible to any kind of retail shopping. You might not be able to buy what you need for your trip.

I wrote down six tips on what you need to consider when choosing your preferred luggage.

1. Bag Style

Rolling totes, backpacks, duffel bags, suitcases, there are multiple options to choose from. It all depends on your own travel style.

Some folks would pack an extra bag in case of emergency.

2. Material World

Depending on what type of luggage it is, materials differ and can affect the durability and flexibility of the bag.

For hard cases or hard-shells, you'll often see either ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), polycarbonate, polypropylene, and PVC.

Softside bags are usually made from any of the following: polyester, nylon, cotton, leather, or vinyl.

The kind of material also affects the weight of the luggage. It will dictate on how many things you can place inside the bag without it being too heavy.

3. Maneuverability

Whether it has straps, wheels, rollers, or slings, your bag needs to be easily carried or navigable. Taking into consideration on what kind of traveling you will be doing.

Stroller bags have come a long way. From two-wheelers to four-wheels and now some suitcases even have eight-wheels.

Make sure that the bag you choose fits your personality. If you're a person that likes to keep their hands free, a backpack or sling bag might work for you.

4. The Price is Right

The price tag does not dictate the quality of workmanship. It doesn't mean if you bought something on sale that the item is compromised.

Buying a piece of luggage is a good investment. It's flexible and never out of style.

5. Size Does Matter

Bring a tape measure especially if you're getting a carry-on bag. Nowadays, airlines are very strict on what of type bag can be placed in the overhead bin.

You also have to take into account storage space at your own home when the bags are not in use.

6. Testing 1, 2, 3

It's vital that you test whatever you are buying. Inspect the product.

If you're buying stroller bags, roll them around. Check the stitching. Are the zippers working? Are the handles stable? Are there scratches on the surface? Any vulnerability when you put things inside it?

Extra Tip: Accessories are an additional consideration when purchasing luggage. TSA Locks, bag belts, bag tags, bag covers --- are just examples.

Lastly, don't hesitate to consult with the sales staff and take your time in making your selection. Don't be pressured into buying something that you're not comfortable with. Also, ensure that you take advantage of the product and service warranty included in the purchase price.
