Thank You Best of Cebu Blogs Awards For Another Year

Every year on the fourth Thursday of November, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day. It is a national holiday that symbolizes survival and friendship. It's also a day to give thanks for the blessings one has received. The Canadians have their own Thanksgiving Day which happens every second Monday in October.

For decades, the Philippines also observed Thanksgiving Day as a holiday because of the American Colonial Period. Even after gaining our Independence in 1946, Filipinos continued the tradition until 1972.

Imagine if we still have Thanksgiving Day, it would be a prelude to the Christmas Noche Buena. Instead of lechon or chicken galantina, we would be having roasted stuffed turkey. To be honest, I'm not a fan of turkey. I find the meat a little bland and dry even if we religiously baste it while cooking.

Why am I talking about giving thanks in this post? Because that is what I will be doing, so, please bear with me.

Since 2018 is my third year as a Cebu blogger, I'm elated to say that it's also the third time that The Visual Traveler is a finalist to the Best of Cebu Blogs AwardsFor this year, I've been nominated to the Personal Blog category.

It's exciting as well as flattering to know that people read what I blog even though my topics are not commonplace. It's an honor to be part of the BCBA roster and being associated with the awards.

I have a lot to be thankful for in the past three years. Being part of the Cebu Bloggers Society opened up avenues and possibilities to me as a blogger. I have met interesting people, been to places that I normally wouldn't get the chance to go to and experience wonderful things that an introvert like me wouldn't leave the house for.

I don't usually plan what I blog since bursts of inspiration happen when I least expect it. There are times that it takes me quite some time to finish an article because of the research involved. And another thing that I'm trying to avoid is to procrastinate.

Every year has been a different focus for me and my goal was to write more about history and culture. Another advocacy that I want to promote is the enjoyment of reading. Cebu is the perfect place to be in right now. Every nook and corner of it gives me the inspiration to discover and write about Cebu.

I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all of you for the support and love that you have shown over the years. It is because of you that my creative juices are ignited and inspired to continue on with my little blog.

Daghan Salamat, Best Cebu Blogs Awards, for promoting and encouraging Cebu bloggers to be the best that they can be. Thank you for recognizing talent and showcasing what Cebu can offer to the broader community.

The BCBA Awards Ceremony will be held on December 2, 2018, at Bai Hotel Cebu. This year's awards will not be possible without the gracious support of the following sponsors and partners of BCBA.
